Yoon-duck

Born in 1960 in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, Kwon Yoon-duck studied food science (BS) at Seoul Women’s University and industrial design (MFA) at Hongik University. She began to write and to draw her own picture books in 1993 while looking for books for Man-hui, her son. She studied fine brushwork painting (gong bi hua) and traditional Asian landscape painting in Beijing, China in 1998. Her works, which recreate traditional Korean colors in a modern idiom, include Man-hui’s House(translated into Japanese), Mommy, I Like These Clothes, Gulp! Without Chewing—Bugs Really Don’t Chew, Surprise!—Bugs Really Are Surprised Easily, and Excited Alone!—Bugs Really Get Excited. Currently, she is learning Buddhist painting from Master Beopsu at Bulseong Temple on Mt. Gwanak.
