Born in Jeong’eup, North Jeolla Province in 1971, Bark Sung-woo started his career as a poet when his poem was selected in the annual spring literary contest hosted by the daily JoongAng Ilbo in 2000 and his poem for children was selected in the annual spring literary contest hosted by the daily Hankook Ilbo in 2006. He has published: poetry collections including Spider (published by Changbi), Light Sleep (published by Changbi), The Plum Tree Bus Stop (published by Changbi), and Smiling Exercise (published by Changbi); children’s poetry collections including Inferior Horse Crabs (published by Changbi), Once Around My Home (published by Changbi), and Once Around the Animal School (published by Changbi); and books for youngsters including A Dictionary of Heart and Mind Words for Nine-year-olds (published by Changbi), A Dictionary of Togetherness Words for Nine-year-olds (published by Changbi), A Dictionary of Feeling Words for Nine-year-olds (published by Changbi), and A Dictionary of My Own Words for Nine-year-olds (published by Changbi).
