Born in 1972 in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, Kim Nam-joong studied Korean literature (BA) at Wonkwang University. He received the 9th MBC Grand Prize for Children’s Fiction, 5th Munhak Dongne Children’s Literature Prize, and the 8th Changbi Good Children’s Book Award for his The Railroad Neighborhood(2 volumes, published by Changbi). He has also penned The Yellow Earth, Tails, Tails, and Come on, Bear! and co-authored The Story of Famous Paintings: World Paintings.
