Jeong Hye-seung has experienced both old and new media through her position at Munhwa Ilbo as a journalist and at Daum as a manager of internet policy and government relations. She has also served as vice president at KakaoTalk where she learned about social impact and public relations. In 2017 she joined the Blue House as Secretary of New Media, where she headed the Digital Communications Center and created the National Petition of South Korea platform. In the summer of 2019 after leaving the Blue House, she published the collection of interviews Change of Power while working as a program coordinator at the Medici Forum. Since 2000 she has operated a book review blog under the pseudonym “Maya,” and she frequently participates in the Trevari Book Club.
In college she studied Russian language and literature at Yonsei University; and while she has not been able to use that major, she believes that it has helped her acquire knowledge about the humanities.Despite furthering her education by receiving a master’s in information communication, media, and policy and completing her doctoral coursework in technology and policy at Yonsei University, she still dreams of writing novels.
