East Asia after the Empire

Written by Choi, Won-sik
300 pages
March.2.2009
ISBN: 978-89-364-8554-2
₩ 16,000

This volume is a collection of theoretical and critical essays on East Asia by Choi Won-sik, who has unceasingly explored the true significance and direction of the region amidst eventful world history in the past two decades from the collapse of communist regimes in Eastern Europe in the early 1990’s to the Asian foreign exchange crisis, the 9/11 terrorist attack, Korea-Japan World Cup, and the global economic crisis originating in the United States. As such, it is a compendium of the author’s theory on East Asia from a South Korean perspective, a collection of his timely analyses of the situation in the area over the past 20 years under the consistent argument for the establishment of a permanently peaceful system in East Asia. He argues in this work that East Asians must discard the delusion of empire and jointly search for a future beyond empire.
