My Name is “Gugu Sneakers”

92 pages
March.15.2013
ISBN: 978-89-364-5139-4
₩ 9,000

Little “Gugu,” a boy with a cabbage-like haircut who loves sneakers, loses his parents to a traffic accident and becomes an orphan overnight. Nevertheless, he thinks of his parents as having gone on a trip in search of freedom and does not lose heart. Moreover, “Daddy Long-legs,” a distant relative who suddenly arrives, and Mongdol, a great dog, become new family to “Gugu” and “Oh-Grouch,” “Caked Hair,” and “Booger,” kids with unique personalities, befriend the boy, too. One day, the president of Slip-on ’n Slip-off, a sneaker company, appears before “Gugu” and appoints himself as the orphan’s sponsor—in truth, the man only intends to use the boy. The protagonist avoids being dragged into the president’s schemes, however, and embarks on exciting adventures as the world’s first “sneaker discoverer” ever. This tale will regale readers with the pleasure of seeing youngsters and their friends beat bad grownups through their own resourcefulness and the satisfaction of seeing an unfortunate yet plucky protagonist be rewarded according to his merit.
